The next 4DX releases from Disney will be: “Frozen 2” on November 15th. In 4DX the film will be in more than 675 screens, spanning 65 countries. with Regal Cinemas, B&B Theatres, and CGV Cinemas. In ScreenX the film will be in more than 230 screens, across 26 countries, including 33 screens in the U.S. “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” is now playing worldwide in the 4DX & ScreenX format (which increases the viewing field to 270° by projecting onto the side walls of the theaters so the screen spills over into the theater itself). Lucky for me, Disney has several other films headed to 4DX. The ticket price was worth it and I immediately thought of other movies that I would go see at a 4DX theatre.

I went during my theatre’s popcorn happy hour where you can get one small butter popcorn for free or caramel popcorn for $1.
The price of a ticket was $26.75 at my theater. If you are prone to motion sickness I would caution that the seats can move suddenly and do so often. I highly recommend both the film and the 4DX experience.

My favorite part of the 4DX experience was each time the movie would come to a part where I wanted to sit on the edge of my seat, my seat would lean forward subtly. The lighting effects during the film reminded me of the Path of the Jedi attraction in Tomorrowland. During an action sequence, some of the fairies flew close to a waterfall and at that same time, I felt mist in the air. Any time a character was flying, the high powered fans and the gentle movement of the theatre seats made it feel as if I were soaring along too. There were many special effects that coincided with the events happening on screen. The 4DX format adds motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents to the movie experience. 4DX can be best described as a movie theatre version of Star Tours. This was my first time experiencing a movie in a 4DX Cinema. I was at the studio panel at the 2019 D23 Expo and I remember how she commented on one of the themes of the story in how “What is different, makes you stronger.” That difference is apparent between the two worlds and also between godmother and daughter. Angelina Jolie’s performance was captivating. Elle Fanning has truly grown into Aurora, kind and commanding at the same time. The cast kicked their performance up a notch in this sequel and the introduction of Michelle Pfieffer and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s characters breathed new life into the narrative. Harris Dickinson is Prince Phillip, Elle Fanning is Aurora, Robert Lindsay is King John and Michelle Pfeiffer is Queen Ingrith in Disney’s live-action MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL I appreciated the nods to the original animated classic Sleeping Beauty. And while there were a couple of predictable moments in the film, those moments were followed by surprises that kept me intrigued. But revenge and fear of evil divide humans and fairies.
It is their hope that they can bring together their two kingdoms in harmony for the first time. The premise of the film takes place during young Aurora and Phillip’s engagement. Maleficent was released in theaters nationwide yesterday and we were there to experience it in glorious 4DX (more on that in just a moment). Walt Disney Studios’ “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” is a villainous sort of love story which suits the season.
